David Jochim qualifies for state golf tournament, girls win again

Another week, another South Border Mustang headed to the state golf tournament.

David Jochim punched his ticket in boys action with a 79 at the Milnor golf course. The state tourney will be held May 28-29 in Mapleton.

The Milnor event was a day Jochim will not soon forget. It also was also a great outing for South Border, as the Mustangs finished in second place, with a team score of 346.

Meanwhile, the South Border girls team had another strong week that included a tournament title on May 7 in Linton.

The Mustangs found the winner's circle, with a 394, followed closely by host Linton, 401, and Edgeley/Kulm, 420. Lisbon and Napoleon were tied at 458.

Emily St. Aubin, of South Border, claimed medalist honors on a tough course, with an 89. She won a tiebreaker over Bailey Hulm, of Linton.
