A Zeeland man died last week when a camper exploded.

Bert Jerry Monger Jr., 59, was inside the camper at the time of the incident, according to the McIntosh County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Laurie Spitzer said the explosion occurred about 4:15 p.m. on July 10. The camper was parked near Monger's home on Main Street in Zeeland.

"We had the deputy state fire marshal down to investigate," Spitzer said, "but the cause was not determined."
